Hi, I’m Kevin DeBacker.

I write sci-fi, magical realism, and stories that live in the space between the dystopian and the surreal.

Here on Shortacool, you’ll find short stories about strange futures, fractured families, identity, loss, and love. Some are unsettling. Some dark. Some funny. Most are short.

I’m a soon-to-be adoptive dad, a fan of avocados, and a person who enjoys long urban walks while listening to KCRW (L.A. station). My short fiction has placed in competitions like the ScreenCraft Cinematic Short Story Contest, and my film and TV scripts have been recognized by the LA International Screenplay Awards and the Emerging Screenwriters Competition. My debut novel is currently out on submission.
